Get to know the members of N.W.A. in ‘Straight Outta Compton’

Not a rap fan? Don’t worry. I got you covered. Since you are about to witness the strength of street knowledge, you should know who are going to play the members of the iconic rap group N.W.A. and the roles they are playing in ‘Straight Outta Compton’.

Eazy-E (Eric Wright)

Eric Wright aka Eazy-E is a crowd favorite and the most well-known member of N.W.A. He formed the group in 1986 and started his own record label ‘Ruthless Records’. He will be played by Jason Mitchell (Major Crimes).

Ice Cube (O’ Shea Jackson)

O’Shea Jackson Jr. plays his father Ice Cube. Ice Cube was the group’s writer and is one bad-ass. He opens the group’s iconic song named after their first record, and is highly known to aggravate the cops in the track ‘F*ck the Police’. Jackson Jr. spent two years preparing for the role. This is because his father really wanted him to land the role and thankfully he got the part.

Dr. Dre (Andre Young)

Dr. Dre is widely known as one of the innovators of Hip-Hop music thanks to his amazing production of many rap classics. He produced almost the entire “Straight Outta Compton” album and reinvented himself in his iconic albums ‘The Chronic’ and ‘2001’. He founded Death Row Records in 1991 alongside Suge Knight and Aftermath Records afterwards but this time without Suge. In the film, Corey Hawkins (Iron Man 3/Non-Stop) will take the part of the D.R.E.

MC Ren (Lorenzo Patterson)

Ren is one of the group’s best. This is evident in his verses in his solo track ‘If It Ain’t Ruff’ and other various appearances throughout the group’s two albums where he drops hardcore lyrics. MC Ren will be portrayed by Aldis Hodge (The East).

DJ Yella (Antoine Carraby)

Yella is also a producer for the group just like Dre. Though he may not be on the same level as Dre, he has still produced some pretty good beats. Neil Brown Jr. (Fast & Furious) will play him.
