It all started with Ronnie Lazaro’s vision to pave the way for an avenue where one can freely talk about the ins and outs of the Philippine Independent Cinema industry. For Lazaro, there should be a vehicle to bring across the reality of being in the independent scene. It is paramount that there should be a free space to give voice to the many that need to be heard.

We hope to engage, create opinion, initiate a discussion, ignite self-assessment, and even become the cradle for widened consciousness— thus, giving birth for a need to create a platform,  “Revenge” Of Philippine Independent Arts. This will carry the truth, perceived truth, challenged truth, and subjected truth of everyone concerned in Independent Cinema. It is a powerful tool to educate and engage both film creators and audiences with the vision of further strengthening the industry. This platform is a convergence of relationship between the art and its muse—the beloved audience.

Revenge aims to provide a platform where independent filmmakers can express themselves whether it being in a venue where artists can screen their films or a platform on social media.

In the past few months we have already screened several films like Edna, Apocalypse Child and Sleepless.

We will be screening 2 different films this month of April:

Yanggaw is a poignant tale of a father’s relentless desire to care for his troubled family in the rural Philippines. Junior is the unlucky parent of Amor, a young woman who returns home with an illness that mutates her into the bloodthirsty monster Aswang. Refusing to lose his daughter to the disease, Junior journeys from hospitals to clinics, desperate to find a cure. Yanggaw is a perfect allegory for rural life in the Philippines and the struggles families face there from poverty to intolerance.

Ronnie Lazaro, Tetchie Agbayani, and Joel Torre star in this unsettling rural depiction of the ageless myth of the “aswang”.

“Yanggaw” which inspired a cult-following after dominating the Cinema One Originals Film Festival 2008 also features Aleera Montalla, who plays the lead role of Amor.

Winner of 14 awards and 28 nominations spanning several award-giving bodies, “Yanggaw” is at the top of its class – the best of what Filipino horror has to offer.

A guilt-ridden and disheveled taxi driver named LIMUEL ALCANTARA picks up a mild-mannered businessman named EMMANUEL LAZARO as his last passenger for the night. Limuel’s conspiracy to bring Emmanuel to the hideout of robbery gang leader DIEGO GAWARAN takes a wrong turn. Their journey together from Manila to the foothills of Antipolo becomes a tension-filled and claustrophobic experience. The only way out of this seemingly eternal ride is to face their damnation.
